Q&A of ISO 26262 (Part Ⅱ)

Q5: Does functional safety mean the whole system, or a single chip?
A5: Functional safety refers to the concept at the level of related items (the system or system group that directly performs functions or partial functions (that is, functions visible to users) at the vehicle level, after being decomposed downward, to the subsystem, hardware, and then to the chip, it will assume some safety concepts and inherit the corresponding safety requirements. Therefore, functional safety is a system-level concept, which is ultimately realized by the underlying software and hardware (including chips).

Q6: Are China’s certification and certification authorities consistent with those of foreign countries? For example, in line with the German Rhine standards?
A6: Certification bodies in China engaged in voluntary certification, need to register with the CNCA, according to the relevant standards GB/T 27021 (same as ISO/IEC 17021), GB/T 27065 (same as ISO/IEC 17065) to establish certification implementation rules. The certified certification will be available at the National Accreditation Administration (CNCA).

Q7: Will there be different standards for different chips? I want to know the standard classification.
A7: Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “National Automotive chip Standard System Construction Guide Notice”, referring to the general standards of automotive chips, including reliability (such as the current AEC-Q), EMC, functional safety (ISO 26262), information security (ISO 21434), and also mentioned the standard architecture of different types of chips.
